A smile is one of the first features people notice on meeting. If your tooth needs minor treatment to make your smile shine, dental veneers ( porcelain veneers ) will help you upgrade your smile and make it more beautiful.

What are Porcelain veneers?

Porcelain Veneers also known as Dental Veneers are thin, tooth-coloured shells attached to the front surface of your teeth to improve their appearance. A widespread problem most people face is crooked teeth, meaning teeth are poorly positioned or when there are gaps between the teeth. All such conditions will badly affect a person’s look, and it doesn’t allow people to brush correctly and also will not be able to chew the food correctly while eating. Porcelain Veneers are a great option if you have crooked teeth and are not interested in investing money and time in correcting them through braces.

Porcelain veneers act as a dental lamination for your teeth. It covers the damaged teeth, reshaping or whitening and brightening your smile.

Porcelain veneers procedure cost in India

cost of dental porcelain veneers mumbai

The cost of veneers in India depends on your location, dentist fees and the number of teeth you want to restore. One consultation session with your dentist may cost between Rs 500-1200. The cost of veneer in India is around Rs 12000. Porcelain veneers procedure cost in India is less than in other countries such as the USA, Canada or Australia.

How to prepare for your appointment

Before going for the porcelain veneers, you should have a preliminary appointment with your dentist to discuss options suitable for you and how many veneers you want to place. Sometimes, if your teeth are too crooked, then the  dentist will advise you to have braces before placing the veneers or other treatment options.

The dentist will take X-rays at this stage to evaluate your teeth’ health. They will look for signs of tooth decay, gum disease or if need of root canals. If you have these problems, you cannot go with veneer treatment.

To get the correct size of your tooth for the porcelain veneers, the dentist will trim down about 0.3 to 0.8mm of your tooth, and they take an impression of your teeth. This mold (impression) will send to the lab to create your veneers.

How are veneers put on your teeth?

Typically, it takes 5-7days after your dentist makes your mold to get your porcelain veneers back from the lab. Once your veneers are ready, you can fix an appointment to have them placed. Your dentist will examine the veneers’ fit, colour and shape to make them perfect for you.

The dentist will clean your teeth to keep bacteria from being trapped under the veneers and causing decay. They will use a grinding tool to create a rougher texture on each tooth on which the veneer is applied. This will help the veneer to stick to the tooth.

Your dentist will use dental cement to bond the porcelain veneer to the tooth. It can be done with the help of ultraviolet light, making cement hard quickly.

You have to go again for the follow-up visit in a couple of weeks to check your gums and veneers.

Precautions

Below are the precautions to get the longest life span of your veneers:
  1. Never use your teeth to open any packets
  2. If you play sports, wear a mouth guard
  3. Don’t chew complex objects like fingernails, pens or ice
  4. Brush your teeth properly
  5. Maintain good oral hygiene
  6. If you grind or clench your teeth, you should get a mouth guard

Side effects

You may have a tugging sensation in the initial days. It will take time to get used to porcelain veneers. There are no severe side effects.

Risks

Below are some of the risks involved in Porcelain veneers:

  • The process cannot be undone
  • It cannot be repaired if they crack
  • Your teeth after veneers become more sensitive to hot and cold foods and drinks
  • Veneers can fall off

Conclusion for Porcelain veneers treatment

A healthy smile is a symbol of joy and happiness. It improves your confidence and interactions with others. Veneers are an excellent way to hide discoloured, crooked or damaged teeth. They change the cracked tooth to an evenly shaped, naturally coloured tooth. The porcelain veneer is not the permanent solution to your broken teeth; it will just cover the imperfections so that your smile will be more beautiful and healthier.

As someone who has struggled with juvenile periodontitis since the age of 16, I've worked with dentists around the world, and it was refreshing to find a dentist that I was able to work with directly from beginning to end. Dr. Arora was highly professional, thoughtful, and empathetic throughout the process. I had already started the process and had implants in place, and she helped me with six abutments and a total of 26 crowns. I reached out a few weeks before my trip, and she responded immediately. She took the time to talk through my history, and I could speak with her directly, not one of her assistants. She was very transparent and empathetic to my situation. She addressed my concerns about fees and followed through by not making it about money right when I showed up at her office. She paid attention to every detail and was thorough and getting the job done, and I would recommend her to anyone looking to get some solid work done, whether it be implants or cosmetic work.

Visited for dental facial pain issue, this was a second opinion i needed but the doctor was giving ambiguous answers & was not open to explaining in detail what would be best treatment. Again the answers were confusing and doc was not sure if the treatment would work or not. After having consulted a few docs before i was certain that this condition is not a rare one and facial pain is very common today. Again i was to visit doctor urmi but another dentist in her place consulted me which was surprising as i had no prior knowledge of this. I would appreciate if the doctor showed more enpathy towards the patient.

Visited for dental implants Was looking for a good dental clinic in mumbai , found Dr Ritika online and was quite impressed with her credentials and the reviews on google I was struggling with a old broken bridge with missing teeth . On Consultation with Dr Ritika suggested me immediate dental implants. I had 3 teeth extracted and 3 dental implants place on the same day . The procedure was painless though there was some nagging discomfort for a few days later which is quite normal when you have so much dental work done in one sitting After 4 months the dental implants were restored with 4 ceramic crowns. I happy to be back to enjoying my food. Modern clinic , very professional , affordable and the overall experience at Aesthetic smiles dental clinic is good especially for nervous patients like me who tend to neglect dental treatment Highly recommended

Last year in the month of December I have visited her and she advised me to remove my tooth and then do an implant and I had the most traumatic dental extraction experience, still I kept myself calm thinking that she is well known and experienced doctor and it’s been 5 to 6 months she did not followed up and avoid to reply to my text about the implant, Today i have visited another dentist to my wildest dream, I came to know that she has destroyed my entire jaw bone in the extraction process and no implant is possible now. It’s all big name and low fame, terrible diagnosis and treatment. Please be careful.

I am from the US and was living in Africa when I needed some implants done. My global travel service recommended Dr. Ritika and my experience with her was fantastic! After I moved back to the States, I returned to India specifically to have her do more dental work for me. if not for Covid, I would return to India to finish the implant work she started. Both my dentist and oral surgeon here have commented on the high quality of work I received from her. Her clinic is exceptionally clean and her staff are very nice. Dr. Ritika was also very attentive to my travel needs and even sent cars to pick me up for my appointments. Plus, It costs me less to take a 2-week vacation AND get multiple implants than to get just 1 implant on the US! I highly recommend her, and look forward to when I can go back to visit enchanting India.
